Adam Gase’s Job Not Reportedly Hanging in the Balance on TNF

Despite recent reports that the New York Jets would internally monitor Adam Gase’s performance in the coming weeks, the head coach’s job doesn’t appear to be on the line heading into Thursday night’s game against the Denver Broncos, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Jets believe firing Gase this early into the season is counterproductive and potentially damaging to quarterback Sam Darnold’s development, Rapoport adds.

Although New York’s brass isn’t pleased with the club’s 0-3 start, it intends to see whether the coach can turn his squad around.

Gase’s offense ranks last in both scoring and total yards per game through three weeks, though the unit has been decimated with injuries. Le’Veon Bell, Jamison Crowder, and rookie Denzel Mims are among players who have missed time this year.

The head coach has been under scrutiny from fans while failing to help the Jets take the next step.

New York closed out last season with a 6-2 record after starting the campaign 1-7, and the front office hopes a similar rebound is in store for 2020.
